Assam’s pride – the Gamusa gets GI tag

Today morning each and every one of Assam woke up with a good and great news which is none other than the GAMUSA getting the GEOGRAPHICAL IDENTICATION TAG after 6 years of its registration.

The GI tag is used to symbolize something of its geographical origin. The Gamusa is a symbol of Assamese culture which means a “towel” used for various purposes. It is almost found in each and every household. It is a white rectangular piece of cloth with a red border on three sides and red woven motifs on the fourth. The pride and honour of Assam getting such a privilege is definitely a boon for the whole of Assam and its people.
