Tejaswita Baruah, a 14 year teenage singer of Dariyagaon in Majuli passed away. She was performing a traditional Borgeet in the Dariyagaon Namgharh on the occasion of the 574th birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev and collapsed while performing.
She complained about continous seizure and was immediately admitted to the Pitambar Deva Goswami civil hospital at Garmur around 2.45 pm. She was given an immediate treatment and after battling for 2 hours, she took her last breath.
According to the doctor she had a history of cardiac problem but as per the family member of the singer Tejaswita, she died due to medical negligence and lack of resources. While Pollock Mahanta, the Deputy Commissioner of the Majuli District of Assam informed that there was no lack of resources at the time of the incident and hence also added that the cause of death and the part of negligence is under investigation.
