#PandalCheck | Butterfly Park at Theatrepara Malipatty Durga Puja Samity

Installing several handcrafted goddess Durga idols in various pandals marks the start of the festival. The Goddess Durga statues sit over a lion while holding various weapons in their ten hands. She defeated Mahishasura by lessening evil’s might. People visit the elaborate pandals during Durga Puja and offer prayers to the deity.

Through our Dibrugarh Durgotsav Awards, we try to bring to the people of Dibrugarh a glimpse of such hard work. And our next location in the #JanataJanardhan series features another well-known Durga Puja Committee in town, the Theatrepara Malipara Durga Puja Committee Samity.

They’ve been bringing home Goddess for forty-two years with the utmost delight. This year their theme is Butterfly Park. The pandal architecture will be a butterfly shaped park. It is a facility which is specifically intended for the breeding and display of butterflies, with an emphasis on education. There, hundreds of species of butterflies are preserved. The pandal will be made of dry flowers, petals, leaves, etc. Everything that will be used in the building up of the pandal will be organic. Not only this, their idol will also be 100% eco-friendly.

“That reason behind choosing the particular topic, we found that butterflies are extinctions and hence such parks are important.”” I would appreciate the entire team of Dibrugarh 24×7 for organising such an unbiased and transparent award show for the third time,” he further added .
