Dibrugah 24×7 is reminding you of the Dibrugarh Durgotsav Awards 2022.Concerning #JantaJanardhan’s next stop, we are in another Dibrugarh Puja Pandal in the heart of Shantipara, in Tarun Samity Colony, and the Puja is known as the Tarun Samity Puja Committee. They have been celebrating this puja for more than seventy years and it is one of the oldest pujas in the town.

This year their theme will reflect the plight of Assam-East-Pakistan (history).British administrators recognised the necessity for a separate government in the eastern part of the Bengal Presidency as early as 1868. They believed that Calcutta, the capital of British India, and Fort William were already overwhelmed. The colonial authorities saw the importance of splitting Bengal and generating opportunities for Assam’s commercial development in 1903. The British vowed to invest more in jobs and education in the newly created province known as Eastern Bengal and Assam. The Partition of Bengal was conceived by Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India, and implemented on October 16, 1905. The previous Mughal capital of Bengal, Dacca, was once again the seat of power. The first Lieutenant Governor of the province was Sir Bampfylde Fuller. He held office for a year and resigned in 1906 in response to pressure from the British Parliament and differences with Lord Minto. Sir Lancelot Hare (1906–1911) succeeded him, and Sir Charles Stuart Bayley followed him (1911-1912).Indian nationalists sparked controversy by decrying the division as an effort to “split and rule” the Bengali motherland. The merchant class in Calcutta was likewise concerned about losing their regional economic clout. As a reaction to the rise of Hindu nationalism, the All India Muslim League was established in 1906 at the All India Muhammadan Educational Conference in Dacca. As a result, the All India Hindu Mahasabha was founded. King George V declared the British government’s decision to void the partition at the Delhi Durbar in 1911. King George V declared that the partition had been revoked by the British government. The colonial government’s action was perceived as an attempt to placate extreme communal factions. Assam was elevated to the status of a province under the chief commissioner, and eastern Bengal was joined with western Bengali districts. The construction of the pandal will be done with totally raw materials like wooden fruit cartons, tins , etc. to give the authentic feel and touch to the entire construction. These items are reusable ones, and no artificial items are used.

“People are day by day forgetting our roots and our history and, via this, it is our effort to preserve them and pass them on to our new generations because we cannot forget. If our ancestors hadn’t laid their lives for us, then we would not be here where we are today.”

While speaking to us, the committee member said.
