Oil India Ltd has become the latest entity to join the green hydrogen rush, announcing the establishment of a 100 kw green hydrogen plant at its pumping station No. 3 in Assam’s Jorhat district. OIL’s proposed plant is significant because it will deploy AEM technology for the first time in the country and will be the first such project in the northeast, despite being a small pilot compared to more ambitious projects planned by its oil sector siblings.
According to Pankaj Kumar Goswami, Director (Projects), the project will help OIL understand the effects of natural hydrogen blending on the company’s existing infrastructure. According to the statement, the project is part of a plan to expand its portfolio of clean energy offerings in order to become an integrated energy company.
