On Thursday, a 50-year-old man accused of raping three underage girls was allegedly shot at while attempting to leave police custody in Assam’s Morigaon district.He was detained on Wednesday, two days after the girls’ families filed charges against him.

According to a local police official, the complainants say that the accused raped the three girls, all under the age of ten, many times, with the most recent occurrence being on Sunday.

When questioned, the accused admitted to raping a fourth girl as well.He claimed to have kept bits of the fourth girl’s clothing at his home. The officer stated that the police were transporting the accused to his apartment early on Thursday in order to gather evidence when he attempted to evade detention. The cops shot him in the leg. The culprit is being treated at Gauhati Medical College Hospital, according to the police.
